Eight-compound lipotropic formulation. Studied for fat metabolism and hepatic function in preclinical research.

Origin

The 8X Lipotropic Blend combines eight compounds: L-Carnitine (20mg), L-Arginine (20mg), Methionine (25mg), Inositol (50mg), Choline (50mg), Vitamin B6 (25mg), Vitamin B5 (5mg), and Vitamin B12 (1mg). Lipotropic compounds were first described by Best and Huntsman in the 1930s at the University of Toronto, who identified factors that prevented hepatic fat accumulation.

Research Lineage

The classical lipotropic factors — methionine, choline, and inositol — have been studied since the 1930s for their roles in hepatic lipid transport. L-Carnitine's role in mitochondrial fatty acid transport was characterized by Fritz in the 1950s. The B-vitamin cofactors support the methylation cycle (B12, B6) and CoA synthesis (B5) that underlie lipid metabolism.

Mechanism of Action

The formulation combines multiple metabolic pathways: methionine provides methyl groups for phospholipid synthesis; choline and inositol are phospholipid precursors essential for VLDL assembly and hepatic fat export; L-Carnitine shuttles long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for beta-oxidation; L-Arginine is a nitric oxide precursor; B-vitamins serve as cofactors for methylation (B12/B6) and acyl-CoA metabolism (B5).

Components
